The mission of Sebasticook Valley Hosptial (SVH) is "to be the leader in meeting the health needs of our communities, providing quality care, always treating all people with dignity and respect." SVH prides itself as being 'the best small hospital in Maine.'
The Sebasticook Valley Hospital, a twenty-eight bed healthcare facility located on Grove Hill in Pittsfield, operates a 24-hour emergency department that serves over 12,000 patients each year and includes four full-time physicians, trauma team, HeliPad, and Ambulance Services. The facility offers a full range of specialists, general and specialty surgeries, women's health services (mammography, diagnostic bone density screening, lymphedema therapy, stereotactic breast biopsy, and prosthetics), pulmonary rehabiliation services, cardiac rehabiliation and rehabilitation services at the SVH STEP Center (located on 21 Leighton Street in Pittsfield), home health services at Sebasticook Valley HomeCare (located on 49 Main Street in Pittsfield), and dental care services for the uninsured or underinsured at the Sebasticook Valley Dental Clinic (located on 179 South Main Street in Pittsfield). SVH is a JCAHO-accredited healthcare faclity and is a member of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.
The full-time medical staff of sixteen meets monthly. With adjunct physcians particpating in Specialty Services or otherwise associated with SVH, the medical staff numbers forty, including thirteen physicians who perform surgeries at the facility. Counting all employees, SVH provides employment for 250 full- and part-time employees.
SVH is a fiscal agent for Healthy Living (a Healthy Maine Partnership), Sebasticook Valley Healthy Community Coalition, Across Ages, and is involved in the Miles for Smiles Program that offers free dental care services to children ages 0-18, SVH participates in various health-related community events throughout the year and offers educational services to community groups and businesses throughout the Sebasticook Valley Region.
