Welcome to the Town of Pittsfield, Maine

Welcome to the website for Pittsfield, Maine.  We are very proud of our community of 4,230 which provides a wonderful quality of life with extensive recreational pursuits along the Sebasticook; trails for walking, snowmobiling and mountain bike riding; the Pinnacle Ski Slope where children learn to ski; and seven community parks for families to enjoy.  It is easy to see why we are known as a very family friendly community.

The mission of the Town of Pittsfield is to provide a safe, healthy, attractive and affordable community in which to live, learn, worship, raise children, work and play.

The Town of Pittsfield serves as a regional employment center offering over 2,000 jobs through several major corporations and nearly 200 smaller businesses.  With many historic buildings, the beautiful Maine Central Institute campus, our own Community Theatre and one of the largest community festivals in the region - the Central Maine Egg Festival - Pittsfield is interesting and unique!  With all of these amazing assets, we must never forget that our greatest asset are our volunteers - literally hundreds of citizens and businesses donating countless hours to benefit the community, its schools and recreational programs.

Pittsfield is a multi-faceted community with much to offer.  There is something for everyone here as evidenced by recent reviews of the community since 2012.  In August 2012, Pittsfield was certified by the State of Maine as business friendly.

In October 2012, Pittsfield was named 1 of Central Maine's 10 prettiest villages in the Kennebec Trails published by the Kennebec Journal.  In November 2013, Pittsfield was named 1 of the top 15 Best Towns in Maine for Young Families by NerdWallet Finance based upon criteria judging affordability; school system; and town growth and prosperity.  In 2015, Pittsfield was chosen as 1 of the 10 best places to live in Maine in the category of Best for Low Crime by the Only In Your State website which ranked the best places to live in Maine in December 2015.  This is a very unique community with so much to offer!
