The Town of Pittsfield was fortunate to receive a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for a Brownfield Cleanup.  The Eelwier property off what was formerly called Eelwier Road and now known as 8 Mount Road will be cleaned up so that the property can be demolished.  This property, off Route #100 has been a detriment to the neighborhood and the community since the late 1990's when the Town obtained the property through non-payment of property taxes by automatic foreclosure.

This section will be utilized to update citizens, businesses and interested parties on the Town's progress in cleaning up the site.  Documents will be posted here as we proceed through the grant process.

The property at 8 Mount Road, formerly called 10 Eelwier Road, was renamed by the E-911 process and was listed as Eelwier Road in the grant documents.  We recommend that you review the study called the Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives dated March 25, 2009 by Credere Associates, LLC and the Community Public Relations Plan approved April 21, 2009 by the Town Council.

The Town will hold a public informational session on the Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives at the Town Council's regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 05, 2009 beginning at 7:30 p.m.  This meeting will be very interesting.  There will be a public comments and concerns period as well as questions and answers session.

Comments on the Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives will be accepted until May 31, 2009, at which point the Analysis will be finalized.
