Static Line is the jump where you jump from an altitude of 3000 feet and you parachute is automatically deployed as you fall away from the airplane.  You will be using a rectangular type parachute which you will find very maneuverable and fun to fly. After your parachute opens (3-5 seconds) you will steer through the sky with the aid of a radio person on the ground.  (You have a radio headset in your helmet)  The parachute ride should be about 3 to 4  minutes long and end with a nice soft landing.  This method of skydiving involves about 5 to 6 hours of training so that you can safely make the jump.  After your jump you will receive a logbook, first jump certificate and a bumper sticker.

Tandem skydiving is where you are hooked up to the instructor.  Training for this takes about 45 min. to 1 1/2 hours depending on how involved you want to be during the freefall part of the dive.  After  training you will get suited up with a special harness that will be hooked up to your instructor's harness while flying up to 10,000 feet in the airplane.  At 10,000 feet you dive out of the plane and freefall for about 1 mile (35 seconds), at which point you will be given a signal to pull the ripcord.  (if you don't pull, the instructor will.) The parachute opens by 4000 feet and both of you will control it for about 5 to 7 minutes and then have a nice soft landing.  After the jump you will receive a first jump certificate and a bumper sticker.  An option that comes with tandem is paying $100.00 for a camera person to film you during this adventure.
